This years IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championships at Schönberger Strand finished as a very successful event for all competitors and partners of the event. Perfect wind conditions with wind forces of up to 7 beaufort allowed slalom eliminations on all six event days. The very challenging conditions required a lot from the 63 starters who completed 12 slalom eliminations in the masters fleet and 11 slalom eliminations in the youth fleet. In the masters fleet the Slalom European Master Champion Title 2009 went to the German sailor Bernd Flessner (GER-16, F2, Neil Pryde). He has now scored three titles this year: the 14th German Master Title, the Slalom World Champion Title and now the European Master Champion Title. In the youth fleet (U-20) Maciek Rutkowski (POL-23, Starboard, Maui Sails) from Poland won the Slalom European Youth Champion Title 2009.

Best conditions, with wind forces up to seven beaufort, led to a day without breaks for the competitors of the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championships at Schönberger Strand. During the fifth day of the regatta, the surfers completed three slalom eliminations, for the category youth (Under-20) as well as for the master (Over-35) division. The title candidate Bernd Flessner (GER-16, F2, Neil Pryde) from Germany, approaches the Master European title more and more. Today he defended his first position in the overall ranking of the Master division. In the category Youth Maciek Rutkowski (POL-23, Starboard, Maui Sails) from Poland is on top of the overall ranking and on the way to the title.

After three days with very strong wind conditions, the fourth day of the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championships at Schönberger Strand was the day of the light wind experts. With a wind speed of three to four beaufort the wind was always close to the limit. That caused a lot of breaks during the regatta. Nevertheless almost one complete slalom-elimination in the youth category could be completed. The first elimination of the masters slalom number nine was completed as well.

The third event day at the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championship 2009 could not have been any better for the over 60 competitors from 10 European countries. Perfect conditions with gusts up to 25 knots allowed four slalom eliminations in both categories master and youth. The current Slalom World Champion Bernd Flessner (GER-16, F2, Neil Pryde) from Germany could clearly hold his lead after eight completed slalom eliminations. The so far leading French sailor William Alikiagalelei (FRA-540, AHD, Loft Sails) was overtaken by Maciek Rutkowski (POL-23, Starboard, Maui Sails) from Poland today, who now leads in the youth fleet.

Perfect conditions welcomed the competitors of the IFCA Slalom Youth & Master European Championships 2009 on the second event day at Schönberger Strand/Kiel in Germany. With 20 to 25 knots of wind, the participants completed three full slalom eliminations in the master category and two full slalom eliminations in the youth category. The current Slalom World Champion Bernd Flessner (GER-16, F2, Neil Pryde) from Germany sustained his leading in the masters fleet. In the youth fleet the French sailor William Alikiagalelei (FRA-540, AHD, Loft Sails) could keep his lead as well.
